Heading out on ski tours in Zell am See - Kaprun

On the Kitzsteinhorn there are new routes, the "Schneekoenigin" and "Eisbrecher", which head along the edges of the pistes. The Schneekoenigin proceeds from Langwiedboden to the Alpincenter, tackling some 474 metres altitude. The Eisbrecher also starts at Langwiedboden, proceeding past the Alpincenter to the mountain station for the Maurerlift, at 2875 metres – those keen on climbing can tackle some 900 metres altitude. The extreme altitude location and low amount of oxygen in the air enhances the training effect, one which endurance athletes in particular have come to prize.

Ski tours and snow-shoe hikes on the Ronachkopf in Thumersbach
From this winter Thumersbach’s local mountain will be open for ski tourers and snow-shoe hikers. The tour to the Ronachkopf provides lovely scenery and an easy route, with some 500 metres of climbing and spanning 2500m, with panoramic views to the Schmittenhoehe, the Hohe Tauern and Zell am See. After a leisurely initial ascent, there is then a somewhat more demanding middle section before you get to the summit above the Enzianhuette at 1350m.

This means the tour is suitable for beginners and experts in equal measure. Hungry winter athletes are indulged with delicious local foods in the Enzianhuette made by the lodge landlord. Depending on the snow conditions, the tour can be done from the start of December through to the middle of April and also provides a snow-assured descent into valley even in the spring time.
