snow safety on the Kitzsteinhorn

Freeriding on the Kitzsteinhorn - an unforgettable experience

While freeriding on the Kitzsteinhorn you get to enjoy empty pistes and pristine powder snow.

Off your own bat, or with a local guide, you get to explore the winter wonderland of Zell am See-Kaprun away from the prepared pistes. In workshops you learn all there is to know about freeriding, which means you will be safe out there on the pistes.

The finest powder, wonderful blue skies and soothing tranquillity – a dreamy scenery awaits you on the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. Yet before you head for the deep snow slopes preparation is everything - safety comes first.

Kaprun’s Backcountry: ideal for freeriding

Since 2009 the Kitzsteinhorn at the Freeride Info Base has been providing comprehensive advice about freeriding. Alpine dangers are explained here but you are also encouraged to use your own instincts. A state-of-the-art information system which has been developed by a team of local experts, should help ensure that freeriders are very well-prepared for heading out into backcountry terrain. At the Freeride Info Base you can get information any time about which routes are negotiable.
